A paper mache oryx head sculpture. A modern rustic animal bust in salvaged paper. The oryx is a species of antlelope native to Africa and the Arabian peninsula. This is an expressive take inspired by African arts- this piece will command a space. Tall, textured antlers embellished in metallic gold are the focal point, but other details (such as the hand cut mane) hold their own. A soft gray toned white is accented all over with a gray pattern painted by hand to add the finishing touch. Mounted on an espresso colored base.
Colors: gray-white, gray, tan, espresso
Measures: approx. 43.5 in tall x 16 in wide x 8in front to back(61.5cm x 15cm x 20cm)
Papier mache can be a tough, yet lightweight material. This piece won't shatter if dropped, but can be chipped, scuffed, or otherwise damaged if abused!
Recycling and conservation is important to me. Unless otherwise indicated, ALL of my papier mache items are made from recycled paper and other reclaimed materials, not preshredded storebought mache.
